Meet the Presenters
Brian Acken is Director for CFS Analytics. He has more than 30 years’ experience in law enforcement, specifically in uniformed patrol, investigative, and technology-related law enforcement and public safety activities. After retiring as a Major from the Pennsylvania State Police, Acken served as CIO for the Montgomery County Police Department in Gaithersburg, MD, prior to joining RTI. Acken supports public safety open data information sharing and specializes in providing technical assistance to nationwide police agencies as they navigate the complexities of integrating modern technologies within their data driven policing response.
Andre Richards, a member of RTI International’s Policing Research Program, has over twelve years’ experience as a law enforcement officer. Mr. Richards works to provide input on tools that can assist law enforcement operations.
Prior to joining RTI, Mr. Richards served as a supervisor in the Special Victims Unit, as a homicide investigator, as well as several roles throughout patrol for the City of Durham NC. He had the opportunity to assist in numerous local, state and federal investigations. Mr. Richards is graduate of the West Point Leadership program and holds an Advanced Law Enforcement certificate from the NC Justice Academy.
