Under the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund, local education agencies are receiving subgrants to address the impacts COVID-19 has had on K-12 students, educators, and families. With an influx of funding, many school and district leaders are asking themselves what the sources of ESSER Funds are, how the funds can be used, and what priorities they should consider when figuring out how to apply their ESSER Funds.

Some of the ways school and district leaders can use their ESSER Funds include:

  • Accelerating learning recovery
  • Addressing the social and emotional wellbeing of students and staff
  • Re-engaging students and families who were disconnected from the K-12 education system
  • Supporting educator access to real-time data to implement personalized instruction
